Birkbeck Students Union centre of the political universe not
Possibly the most rubbish set of student union election results in the history of student union politics. OK Birkbeck isn't really a student body that really digs SU politics but non the less. Of course I would have had greater right to complain if I had actually voted myself.

Comments:
That's ridiculous! At SOAS we must have had a thousand-odd votes in every category.

Are you studying there at the moment? What do you make of it?

I've just submitted an application for a part-time Masters in Social and Political Theory (funnily enough) starting in October...

Are you serious?!

Every position in our SU had at least 2000 votes!

Totally serious guys. Apparently last year it was only a couple of hundred votes an it was more promoted than this year.

Apart from the turnout in SU elections it is a great place for part timers to study and full timers benefit from evening classes! but most of the student body are part time mature students. If FC you have any more questions feel free to mail me.

I am a student at Birkbeck too - on a politics course. It was a poorly organised election with little publicity. But I voted! And the staff on the reception desk were surprised when I did so!
I think there is a need to overhaul the election process at Birkbeck. Because of its part-time nature perhaps an online vote? Although this brings up other problems.

Gee for the returning oficer- what was he thinking - and about to repeat his glorious past - Sisyphean or what? Disgusted of Essex.
