  Hilary Benn sort yourself out
Hilary Benn is first so far in Iain Dales pole of Labour cabinet ministers. JP is second and let's face it it is troublesome tories doing the voting there. The thing is he is part of the westminster village who have all been programmed for years that the successor will be Gordon. The thing is Gordon would benefit from a proper contest, the party would benefit and the unexpected could always happen and he may win. So what are you waiting for.

NB1 Harry Barnes: This could also be applied to Peter Hain.

NB2 I really hate my internet connection at the mo as it was off then it was on again and very quickly went off againg and refuses to come back to life. So stuck in massively overpriced internet cafe. Role on spring term.

Comments:
I don't see the point of people clicking into polls. It merely tells us the views of that odd ball comunity of clickers. At least they aren't being exploited by programme makers and phone companies as with the X Factor. Or are they the same people?

Then, of course, there are the odd balls who use these comment boxes!

I'm doing an MRes in Global Politics at the moment which is like a normal masters degree except I do research methods so I do know a bit about proper social science research and this kind of poll doesn't cut the mustard but as long as we treat it as a bit of fun I don't think it does much harm.

That is unless you get papers that have phone in polls and then splash the results as representative of opinion when they are not.

Well, out of that sorry lot I cast my vote for Benn the very moment the names went up. Hain is too flakey but has his moments.

As a side bet Will/Harry/anyone who would you pick for a proper left/centre left candidate - given a clean sheet of paper - let's assume that the three declared for L or DL i.e. JMcD, MM and JC all accepted seats at this uber centre-leftie's cabinet table in return for caving in "gracefully"?

Cameron ducked the Fawkes question about off-shore funding btw ... but he's not giving up.

Did you watch Doughty? What did ID ask FM? Did he ask him what it was like getting rated -4 on Conservativehome??
